At evermade, we care a lot about the world around us. Whether that means composting our food scraps at the office or using eco-friendly materials in our products, we try to do what's right. Even when it costs more, we manufacture with the environment in mind.
The chipboard for the boxes of our card games comes from 100% recycled material, and all paper material used in our jigsaw puzzles comes from partially recycled material. We are also actively looking into ways to use more recycled content in our products.
All of our card games and puzzles books use vegetable-based inks, which are vegan, more sustainable, and have much less volatile organic compounds than petroleum-based inks. We are currently in the process of switching to soy-based inks for our jigsaw puzzles as well.
All of our card games use water-based coatings on the box and cards, which is more environmentally-friendly than varnish or UV coatings.
The boxes for our card games use
which means it comes from "responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits."
Both the cover and inside pages of our puzzle books are SFI certified, which means the forest management entity has taken "measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and Forests with Exceptional Conservation Value."
We are always looking for innovative ways to reduce the use of plastic in our products, and whenever possible we substitute plastic wrapping or bags with paper alternatives. For example, we use paper trays to hold our game cards in place rather than shrinkwrapping each deck. And our book covers have an anti-scratch coating so the books don't need to be shrinkwrapped either.
All of our card games and puzzle books are produced in the USA, purposefully close to our storage warehouses, in order to reduce fossil fuel usage and minimize greenhouse gas emissions from excessive shipping around the globe and country. We also try to partner with manufacturers who source materials locally.
Everything we make can be recycled! Plastic shrinkwrap and bags can be recycled at most major retail stores that have "plastic bag and film" drop-off boxes. All cards, paper trays, posters, and jigsaw pieces can be placed with your regular paper recycling. For game boxes, first separate the paper wrapping from the chipboard box, then place in your regular paper recycling. In most places, our books can also be placed in your paper recycling, but check your local rules first.
But our products are not just safe for the earth—they're safe for you, too. We only partner with factories that use safety-tested materials, and we independently safety-test all of our products intended for children under the age of 13 to comply with United States CPSC and European Union / United Kingdom CE regulations. Please contact us if you would like to see a copy of our safety testing lab results or certificates.
